The Mentorship Triad: Cultivating Excellence in Patient Partnerships

Our Studentships and Fellowships Awards Mentoring Program is built around a mentorship triad—comprised of a Mentee, an Academic Mentor, and a Patient or Community Partner Mentor—to equip the next generation of clinical trial researchers and professionals with the skills and confidence to collaborate with patient partners as equal contributors in research.

Types of Mentors in Our Program

    Patient and Community Partner Mentors

Patient and community partners are individuals with lived experience of a health issue or those who provide informal care, such as family members and friends. As mentors, they play a vital role in enriching CANTRAIN’s competency-based training program by contributing their unique insights and expertise.

    Academic Mentors

Individuals with experience in academic clinical research and/or industry settings. They may hold positions as investigators, research scientists, regulatory or medical affairs professionals, or other roles related to clinical trial design, implementation, and oversight within academia, industry, and advocacy.
