Renee Yu
Clinical Research Coordinator, Centre for Innovative Medicine (RI-MUHC), Montreal, Quebec
BIOGRAPHY: I’m committed to combining the skills developed from my scientific
training and clinical research experience to excel as a clinical research professional.
What is your interest in clinical trials? • Diversity in clinical trials.
Why do you think clinical trials are important?
• “Clinical trials are the standard of care for tomorrow” A quote from a patient partner for an unnamed pharmaceutical company.
What is your personal philosophy about clinical trial training specifically or mentorship in general?
• Your experiences outside the realm of clinical trials can be valuable assets. While humility is essential and recognizing yourself as a "blank slate" when entering the field is wise, it is equally important to trust your instincts and relevant past experiences as you acquire new knowledge about clinical trials (Use your common sense!). Do not simply follow instructions without question. Consider the rationale behind current practices and, if something seems illogical, reflect on why it might be that way and explore potential improvements.
FUN FACT: Chorister circa 2009.
