BIOGRAPHY: Peter Daley is a Canadian Infectious Diseases physician and Medical Microbiologist. He works in academic practice of Infectious Diseases. He is trained in Tropical Disease and Clinical Epidemiology. His interests include clinical trials of antimicrobial treatment, antimicrobial stewardship, antimicrobial resistance, diagnostic testing, public health, tuberculosis.

What is your interest in clinical trials?
Generating definitive evidence to change practice.

Why do you think clinical trials are important?
Observational studies are prone to biases which cannot be fully corrected using adjustment.

What is your personal philosophy about clinical trial training specifically or mentorship in general?
Physicians working in academic centers should be supported and trained to randomize interventions for this patients. Patients should be informed that the learning health system provides them opportunities to participate in research. Governments and funders should base treatment decisions on randomized evidence.
