BIOGRAPHY:
I am a professor of pediatrics and a practicing pediatric neurologist at the University of Alberta and Stollery Children’s Hospital. I serve as the Associate Dean of Health Research for the College of Health Sciences and the Center Director of the Northern Alberta Clinical Trials and Research Center (NACTRC). In my leadership roles, I am committed to advancing support for impactful interdisciplinary health research, clinical trials, and leveraging health data to improve patient outcomes. My research focus includes applications of precision health in disorders of the autonomic nervous system in children and the treatment of pediatric migraine.

Clinical trials are the critical pathway to innovation for impact on human health.

What is your personal philosophy about clinical trial training specifically ormentorship in general?
Having oversight on all clinical trials at the University of Alberta has given me a perspective on factors that influence the start-up, successful enrolment, quality, and impact of a clinical trial. The opportunity to share what I have learned is exciting.
